Spaceships in the slums only travel between the moons and are incapable of reaching the planet because of an asteroid belt between them that is near impossible to navigate except with the best technology. The worse the area they're from, the more unique they may appear. Toxic waste on the moons gives people strange attributes whether it be colorful features, unusual size, etc. And that would be the driving force behind the story.Īnyway, here are some other random ideas: Anyway, their fates seemed poised for change when word comes out of a tournament (similar to gladiator games) which will send the winners to live on the main planet and leave the slums behind. And though they still pretend to be friendly, it's only a matter of time before things escalate toward violence. I'm thinking they were previously a single gang but split up for some reason? (one of the things I could use help with). Our plot would center around two gangs (of about 4-5 people each) in the slums. Because of this, tensions run high in the slums and most people are affiliated with some kind of gang as protection. Their lives are dictated by trying to carve out a little bit of space and happiness for themselves on the moons, but there's a ton of competition for every resource. But those who live in the slums rarely if ever get to visit the planet. And then the wealthy live on the planet itself, which has much more space to spread out, as well as rich plant and animal life. The vast majority of the population lives on the slum moons which are basically overpopulated, rundown cities. Anyway, the main setting would be in a moon system called "The Slums" which orbit a single planet. So there would be advanced technology in terms of space ships, traveling between planets, etc. So as I said earlier, I'm thinking of a sorta cyberpunk / space vibe. Help from anyone who wants to sort them out with me would be greatly appreciated <3 As more and more i'm coming across modern views on cyberpunk being very "Spacey" whereas for me anything space heavy (ships traveling the galaxy aliens etc).is something that is standalone it's own genre.Alright here we go! Finally sitting down to explain my jumble of ideas. I know there's no hard and fast rules on EXACTLY what Cyberpunk is i'm just curious as to what other's think and their take on it. When things incorporate Alien's and "Space" in a hardcore sense, it for me becomes more of just a "Sci Fi" rather than the sub-derrivitave known as Cyberpunk. A-la "Blade Runner" or "Cowboy Bebop." Since while it's understood space travel is part of the universe- Aliens and much of the "Space" part is negated for mostly terrestrial communities and still fundamentally human/aug issues. To me Cyberpunk including space "elements" is ok. I have strong feelings towards this as to where i tend to disagree. I have been pondering this for some time now ever since i discovered many consider "Mass Effect" to be Cyberpunk. I was wondering on what you think about Cyberpunk & Space?
